First Anniversary Special, Part 1: A Reflection on Year 1 and Plans for Year 2

Author's Note: Some of you may have noticed that this originally posted on the originally-intended date, Thursday June 10th. That was a mistake on my part, as I forgot to change the automated publication date. Anyways, let's get going!

I can't believe that The Parmeter Politics and Policy Record has crossed its first birthday! Since conceiving the idea to start this blog last May during my final month of graduate school, I have created and published a significant amount of content related to American politics, Congressional legislative activity, and public policy. In particular, with last year's elections being closely watched in America and throughout the World, I joined the global community of discussion, analysis, and speculation of the results, candidates, and individual races through frequent posts in the lead-up to and aftermath of Election Day.

To everyone who has been following this blog, I must give you my sincere appreciation for supporting me, even if I've never met you in real-life or virtually. Being able to communicate my thoughts, analysis, and knowledge of politics and public policy to the outside world is one of the main things driving my passion for this blog, since these are topics I am fascinated with.

Going into Year 2, I have big plans for this blog! In particular, since I recently learned how to do multi-OLS regression in Excel, I am working on a two-part political science study utilizing regression analysis that I plan to publish sometime over the summer. Beyond this piece, I plan to create other original content utilizing multi-OLS regression on data related to politics and public policy. While popular discussion of it may have receded into the background since I first covered it, I plan to dedicate additional content to this year's California Gubernatorial recall election to provide information and analysis of this rare electoral event. As indicated several weeks ago, I plan to regularly (i.e. monthly) publish The Last Two Weeks, Told by House Roll Call Votes to keep you up-to-date on House voting activity and key votes. And finally, I plan to resurrect The San Joaquin Valley Electoral Politics Project and begin going back in time to look at older election results not explored yet from the San Joaquin Valley.

As promised, I am ready to reveal my decision on the 1x/week posting schedule pilot project, which is that this schedule will be continued for the foreseeable future. Furthermore, some of you may remember that in the New Year's Eve post, I was considering monetizing this blog through Google's AdSense program. Ever since, I have not signed up this blog for AdSense and have been considering other monetization options, such as a Patreon account or similar service. Once I decide on what option to pursue, I will make sure to communicate it on this blog. Furthermore, I was planning to unveil a professional logo for this blog on the first anniversary, but I was not able to get that done on time. Nonetheless, I am still pursuing that goal, and hope that I will be able to complete it in the near-future. Finally, I plan to continue hosting this blog here on Blogger for the foreseeable future, although I am still planning to eventually migrate it to another hosting service.

There will not be a post coming out next weekend so that I could work on the political science piece (which requires a lot of data collection, research, and writing), prepare other content for this blog, and spend time with my family on Father's Day. It has been a great first year publishing content here, and I look forward to continuing into the second year and beyond!
